What is different about paychecks in Arizona?
At 2.5%, Arizona’s rate is one of the lowest of any state that taxes wages. On $60,000 of pay, a single filer owes about $1,106.25 a year.
Arizona has not yet published its 2026 standard deduction. Its own 2026 estimated-tax booklet says to use the 2025 amount, so this calculator does too. The law raises it each year in line with the federal deduction, so the real figure will likely be a little higher and the tax a little lower.
People with very low income get the increased excise tax credit: $25 for each person on the return, up to $100, if income is $12,500 or less ($25,000 for a joint return or head of household). It is paid back even when no tax is due.
Arizona cities and counties do not tax wages, so the state tax is the only one on your paycheck besides federal tax, Social Security and Medicare.
Not final yet
Arizona has not published these 2026 figures yet, so this page uses the latest official amounts and will be updated when the state publishes: Arizona’s 2026 standard deduction (the calculator uses the 2025 amounts until Arizona publishes 2026’s).

- Dependents, and credits such as the child tax credit.
- One job for the whole calendar year, with the same pay every paycheck, no bonus and no overtime.
- A married couple filing jointly is one earner: the whole household income is this pay.
- The year’s tax is divided evenly across your paychecks. Your employer withholds from each paycheck using your W-4 and the IRS tables, so a paycheck can differ a little.
