About

About My Salary Calculator

Free take-home pay calculators that show their working, cite every figure and keep what you type on your own device.

Why we built it

Most people only find out what a pay rise, a new job or a pension change really means when the first payslip arrives. We wanted calculators that answer that in seconds, on a phone, and show exactly where every pound, euro or dollar goes: tax band by band, social security, student loans, pension and what an employer pays on top.

Country by country

Tax rules are national, so each country gets its own calculator, built on its own rules and tested on its own. We add a country only when every figure can be traced to its government’s own pages. Live today:

  • United Kingdom: Income tax (with Scotland’s own bands), National Insurance, student loans and pensions, plus a payslip checker.

What makes it different

  • Every figure is sourced. Each country has a sources page listing every rate and threshold with the date we checked it.
  • Tested against official examples. Our tests compare the sums with worked examples the government publishes.
  • The awkward cases. Regional rates, unusual tax codes, two student loans, allowance tapers and different pension types.
  • What changed for you. Results show the same pay in the previous tax year.
  • Private. The sums run in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to us.
  • Plain English. Short sentences and no jargon without an explanation.

Independence

My Salary Calculator is an independent website. It is not part of, linked to or approved by any government or tax authority, and it uses no government logo or design. For your own tax position, use your government’s own tool.

How the site is paid for

The site will show ads from Google AdSense. Ads are never placed inside a calculator or the payslip checker. Our privacy policy explains how ads and cookies work and what choices you have.

About us, briefly

Who runs My Salary Calculator?

A small independent team that builds free, simple web tools. We are not part of any government or tax authority, and no one pays us to show their figures.

Why is it free?

Ads will pay for the site, so the calculators, the payslip checker and every guide can stay free with no sign-up. Ads are never placed inside a calculator.

How accurate is it?

Every figure comes from the government’s own pages, and our tests check the sums against official worked examples. It is still an estimate: your payslip depends on details only you and your employer know.

Is this financial or tax advice?

No. It shows how the rules work for typical employees. For your own position, use your government’s own tool, which each country’s pages link to, or ask a qualified adviser.

Can I report a mistake?

Please do: hello@mysalarycalculator.app. Tell us the page, what you expected and where the official figure is.
