Privacy policy

Last updated: 6 October 2026

The short version. Everything you type into a calculator or the payslip checker stays in your browser and is never sent to us. We have no accounts and ask for no names or emails. Ads on this site will come from Google, which may use cookies; you can control that. Visits may be counted with Cloudflare’s cookie-free analytics.

Who we are

This policy covers the website My Salary Calculator at mysalarycalculator.app (“we”, “us”, “the site”). You can reach us at hello@mysalarycalculator.app.

What we do not collect

We do not collect, receive or store your pay, tax code, pension, student loan details, payslip figures, name, email address or any account details. All the sums are done inside your browser. There is no sign-up and no login.

Your answers in the address bar

When you change a calculator, it saves your answers in the page address after a # sign, for example /uk/#pay=30000&region=scotland, so you can bookmark or share the result. Browsers do not send the part after the # to any server. Scripts on the page, including ad scripts, can see the address, and anyone you share the link with can see the numbers in it, so share it only with people you choose.

Some links on our own pages open a calculator with a salary already filled in, such as /uk/?pay=35000 from the £35,000 page. That amount comes from the page you clicked, not from you. As soon as you change anything, the address keeps your answers after the # sign only.

Cookies

We do not set any cookies of our own. Our advertising partner, Google, may set cookies or use similar technologies (such as device identifiers or local storage) when ads are shown, as described below.

Advertising: Google AdSense

The site will be paid for by ads served by Google AdSense. This is how that works:

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your earlier visits to this website or to other websites.
  • Google’s use of advertising cookies lets Google and its partners serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
  • You can opt out of personalised advertising in Google’s ad settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalised advertising at youronlinechoices.eu or aboutads.info.
  • Visitors in the United Kingdom, the European Economic Area and Switzerland are asked for consent through a Google consent message before personalised ads are shown, and can change their choice later.
  • Where your local law gives you the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for targeted ads, you can use the choices above, and your browser’s Global Privacy Control signal where it is supported.

Learn more about how Google uses information from sites that use its services at policies.google.com. Ads are never placed inside a calculator or the payslip checker. If we add any other ad or partner, we will name it here first.

Analytics

We may count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which gives us totals such as page views, which pages are popular, the kind of device and browser, the referring site and the country. Cloudflare states that this tool does not use cookies or local storage and does not track individuals across sites. We use these totals only to improve the site.

Hosting and security

The site is delivered by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical data such as your IP address, browser type and the page you asked for, in order to deliver pages quickly and protect the site from attacks. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy. Our scripts are served from our own site; the only third-party scripts are for ads and analytics.

Children

The site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone.

Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, laws such as the GDPR, the UK GDPR or US state privacy laws give you rights to access, correct or delete personal information, and to object to some uses of it. Because we do not hold personal information about you, there is normally nothing for us to hand over or delete. For advertising data, use Google’s controls above. You can also complain to your local data protection authority (in the UK, the Information Commissioner’s Office). If you have a question, email us.

Where data is processed

Google and Cloudflare run services around the world, so technical and advertising data may be processed outside your country under their own safeguards.

Changes to this policy

If we change how the site handles data, we will update this page and the date at the top before the change takes effect.

Privacy questions

Do you see the salary I type?

No. The calculator and the payslip checker run entirely in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to us or stored by us.

Do you sell my data?

No. We do not collect personal data, so there is nothing to sell. Google, which will show ads on this site, has its own policies and choices, described above.

Why will I see ads?

Ads pay for the site, so the tools and guides can stay free. Ads are never placed inside the calculator or the payslip checker.

Can I use the site without personalised ads?

Yes. Turn off ad personalisation in Google’s ad settings, decline personalised ads in the consent message, or use your browser’s privacy controls. You may still see ads that are not personalised.

What is the text after # in the address bar?

Your calculator answers, kept in the address so you can bookmark or share a result. Browsers never send that part to a server. Anyone you share the link with can see those numbers.
